THe great Escapes to death
Ted Bundy was the great escape artist when he was arrested twice and put in prison, nobody monitored him closely. When he was put on trial Ted acted as his own defense attorney. He was confident in his abilities and he was sure that he would be given a fair trial both times, but everyone else thought otherwise. From the start of the trial Ted Bundy had no chance of winning his trial and clearing his name. Ted Bundy's fate was decided before the trial even started it seemed like.
Ted Bundy's first arrest came June 1977, on suspicion of burglary. Ted was seen driving violently and immediately attracted the attention of police officers. Police were trying to pull Ted over but it turned into a chase for miles. Ted seemed to be worried about being pulled over so he quickly turned off his head lights and continued on. Ted would break many traffic violations by driving through traffic lights and stop signs. Driving like this it would endanger many drivers and people on the road. He would finally pull over knowing he could not go any further and be handcuffed in the back of a police car. Police searched his car and found shackles, handcuffs, and pantie hose with eye holes, and the front passenger seat removed. Looking closely at the car they found long dark hair that would later explain who was behind the disappearance of many victims. Defending himself in court Ted was allowed to walk around freely with no handcuffs or shackles. Ted would be sentenced to fifteen years in prison but before that was final he asked if he could go study his case in the library. As he was there he saw his opportunity and jumped from the second story window to one of his escapes. Police would find him a week later in Colorado. That didn't stop Ted later on.
When Ted was captured from the first escape Ted had another idea. Police would watch Ted closely at first but slowly thought that he wasn't going to escape again and so would leave him alone. Apparently they didn't learn their lesson the first time. Ted would see his opportunity and started digging a tunnel. After several months of digging he would have his second escape. On December 31, 1977, Ted escaped this time with a fifteen hour head start on the police, and was already in Florida before they would realize he had escaped. After arriving he made his way to Florida State University to a sorority house. Ted attacked four girls killing two of them and leaving the others clinching on for dear life. He would then from make his way to a twelve year old girl's home and kidnap her and eventually kill her. After Kimberly Leach was killed the police would later find him after a long man hunt and Ted would find himself in a fimilar situation. He was a suspect of thirty six murders and disappearances of several girls. After the jury discussed his fate for fifteen hours they came to the conclusion he was guilty. Ted showed no emotion when he was found guilty and he would be sentenced to death. He tried to appeal it but he was denied. Ted knew all that he had done and he was going to pay for it. On January 24, 1989, Ted was put in the electric chair where two thousand volts of electricity would go through his body. Before he died he asked for the executor to send his love to his family and friends. After less than two minutes Ted was pronounced dead. The whole country erupted with cheers and fireworks. It was the end of the Ted Bundy era. The killer had died with a smile on his face.
